You cannot erase the image of those furry little speedos. Like all the most enduring and iconic characters, He-Man’s image is indelibly printed on our collective consciousness. Today, Masters of the Universe has all but disappeared from even the most obscure TV channels, but it continues to maintain a cult following. As today’s endless reruns of Friends, Cheers, Frasier and such will testify, TV shows are never really gone. I was born right at the close of the eighties, and so arrived too late to enjoy its brief 1983-1985 original run. Now, granted, the much beloved He-Man and the Masters of the Universe show was a little before my time. Just that name alone swaddles me in waves of comfortable nineties nostalgia.
